The Shema Family Conference will be geared toward helping our families to be more godly. In addition to the sessions, there will be time for you to interact with other families in attendance in the relaxed atmosphere.
Why Shema?
Deuteronomy 6:4 states, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:"
The Hebrew word that is translated "hear" is sh'ma. It means to hear. But more than that is the implication of paying attention and obeying. Although several other Hebrew words are also translated "hear" in the Old Testament, "sh'ma" is by far the most frequent.
Not only that, but the most common Hebrew word that is translated "obey" is also "sh'ma."
In I Samuel 15:22 when Samuel told Saul, "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams," Samuel was saying, "Sh'ma."
The word Shema signifies what we want this conference to be. We want to hear what God is saying to us about our families; then we want to take that with us and obey.
We are excited about the Shema Family Conference and hope you will make plans to join us at this event.
